Welcome to Midnight Confessions. I’m your host, LQ.
I have something a little fun for you today. This is something that’s also practiced in the Tantra world, where you shake the body, starting from the bottoms of your feet and moving all the way to the top of your head. The reason we do this is to release static energy, anything lingering, anything heavy or negative. It’s about loosening the body and reconnecting with yourself, coming back into a sense of freedom.
But I like to put a little twist on it. Instead of just standing there and shaking your body, I want you to dance.
First thing in the morning, and then again at night, just dance. Get up, put your earpieces in if you need to, especially if you’re in an apartment and don’t want to wake anyone. Be mindful of where you step, of course, but let yourself move. Glide if you need to. Just be aware of your space.
Dance in the shower. I do. I dance in the shower, I dance when I cook, I dance all the time. It never really ends. You just put on music that makes your body feel good, something that wakes you up and gets you going, and you move.
Move your feet, your hips, your torso, your hands, your head. Move however you want. There’s no judgment. No one’s watching. Just dance. Feel into the music. Fall into it. Let it carry you. Of course, don’t get so lost that you end up late for work, but give yourself that moment.
Then at the end of the day, when you come home, before bed, dance again. Let it clear out your day. Whatever you experienced, whether it was stressful or easy, just let your body process it through movement. Come back into yourself.
And the best part is, you can do this with your partner. Just dance together. Be playful, be silly, have fun. We forget how powerful music and dancing really are for the body. They tune us back into ourselves in such a profound way.
There are certain songs, certain beats, certain lyrics that just resonate so deeply that your body can’t help but move. That’s your body responding, waking up, coming alive.
So when you’re feeling low energy, when you feel disconnected, not creative, not sensual, not turned on by life, I want you to dance. Because what’s really happening is you’re holding onto static energy. You’re holding tension in your body, especially in your root and sacral areas, and that energy needs somewhere to go.
We also have energy centers in the bottoms of our feet and in our hands. So when you’re moving, when your feet are connecting with the ground, when your hands are flowing through the air or touching your body, you’re releasing and reconnecting at the same time.
And you can’t tell me that dancing makes you feel low. It does the opposite. It wakes up your brain, stimulates you, excites you. It makes you feel alive.
So what does this have to do with Tantra? In Tantra, we shake the body from the feet to the head to release energy. I’m just inviting you to dance instead. If you want to try shaking, go for it. Put on music and shake. But I really want you to play with dancing.
Tantra is about play. It’s about exploration. It’s about connection with yourself.
When I work with my clients, I have music playing, my breath flowing, and my body naturally moves. I can feel the energy moving through me, the heat rising and falling through my body. I’m connected to my breath, to my movement, and to the person I’m working with.
It becomes like music. Like a dance.
And in that space, I can feel when someone is reconnecting to themselves, when their body starts to open, to respond, to come alive again. It’s a beautiful thing to witness.
So I want you to dance. Put on music and just move. Feel it. Connect with yourself. Let yourself be free.
I’d love for you to do this in the morning and at night. Just a few moments to come back into your body, without worrying about being seen or judged. If you’re with your partner, let yourselves be free together. Let go in that moment. Be present with each other and with yourself.
I dare you to dance. I dare you to feel your body and notice the difference. Try it every couple of days, or every day if you can.
As a Tantra practitioner, I dance every day. Even when I’m out walking, if a certain song hits, I’ll start moving. I’m probably never going to see those people again, and even if I did, it wouldn’t matter. I’m just allowing myself to be free.
So I dare you to do the same.
And if you want, have fun with it. Dress up. Or don’t. Dance in whatever makes you feel good. The point is to let your body explore, to express, to feel.
Just be mindful. If you’re dancing in the kitchen, be aware of your surroundings. If you’re in the shower, be careful, it can get slippery. I want you to feel free, but I also want you to be safe.
So wherever you are, however you’re dancing, just make sure you’re grounded and aware.
And then just see what happens.
Morning and night, put on the music and dance. Let your body lead.
I dare you.
XOXO,
LQ
